A Mindful Approach to Self-Injurious Behaviors Webinar

Navigating self-injurious behaviors has a lot of emotion behind it.

Can I keep my child safe? Will everyone be looking at me? What if I can’t protect them in time and they get injured?

As a parent, the list goes on, paired with feelings of defeat, anxiety, being scared, and helplessness. You will learn an alternative supports approach that is filled with mindfulness, dignity, and respect.

As an EI practitioner, this course can enhance your ability to  guide and support parents and their child along this journey.

This course is geared towards parents as well as therapists to begin to align the narrative to one that is collaborative, conscience, and mindful when navigating self-injurious behaviors.

My goal is that you will walk away with mindful tips and techniques to immediately implement to support you, your child, or your kiddos and families on your caseload!

I have always utilized a sensory based approach and embedded mindfulness into my intervention techniques to support my own son and kiddos on my caseload when they engage in self-injurious behaviors (SIBs).  First, I will tell you, it is one of the hardest things I have had to do as a mama. Having watched my son bang his head and hit himself on the face countless times literally breaks my heart. There is no easy or quick fix approach. It takes time. It takes dedication. It takes mindfulness and the ability for you as the parent or therapist to try and remain as regulated as possible to support your child or kiddos on your caseload. That is why I am so beyond excited to be offering this class!!!!

Here is what some of the participants had to say about this class!

“Danielle’s class was very informative and it is clear that she is passionate about her work! She truly put her heart into this class and went above and beyond to make sure everyone understood the content. I would definitely take another class from her!” “I am a first year MOTS in my second semester at Wesley college. I aspire to be a peds OT and recently started learning about Early Intervention. This class opened my eyes and mindset to SIB’s and I absolutely loved everything about it. Danielle did a phenomenal job and I’m so grateful I had this opportunity. Listening to everyone’s input and experiences were very beneficial. I hope to learn more from Danielle and these amazing people!” “This was one of the best classes I’ve ever attended. I went into Early Intervention as a new graduate and was not prepared to have to address self-injurious behaviors. After having the privilege and honor of learning from Danielle I feel so much more confident and empowered to help these kiddo’s and my families. I highly recommend this course especially for anyone new in EI because you will encounter self-injurious at some point…it’s not a matter of if, it’s when. Thank you, Danielle for a phenomenal course!” “Danielle is an excellent presenter- her heart, wisdom, and authenticity create an accessible, engaging, and refreshing learning environment. I left “Mindful Approach to Self-Injurious Behaviors” feeling filled, resourced, grounded, and excited to meet my clients with mindfulness and sensory based supports. I am so super appreciative of Danielle, her point of view, and all the great content she shares! Thank you!”
